Visiting Boston

Boston is a city rich in history, culture and education and one that should be on everyone's list when you visit the US. Here are some things to make sure you don't miss when visiting Boston.

1. Don't miss the Freedom Trail. It is a path throughout the city of Boston marked with bricks in the sidewalk so it's easy to follow. This 2.5 mile path is a trail that passes by 16 locations significant to the History of the United States. https://www.thefreedomtrail.org/

2. The Boston Harbor is the site of the Boston Tea Party. Don't miss seeing this historic site.

3. The Boston Public Gardens is a must see. Make sure to find the copper line of ducks. This is a tribute to the book Make Way for Ducklings. You can also ride the swan boats pictured below. The boat captain uses his pedal power to glide the boat through the water.

4. The Seaport District is a great area on the Harbor full of restaurants and bars. Don't miss the Lookout Rooftop Bar. You get a great view of the city.

5. Boston is full of world class universities. It's always fun to stroll through the Harvard, MIT, Boston College and Boston University campuses.

6. While in Boston, make sure to check out a Boston Symphony concert. They are one of the top orchestras in the world and always leave me feeling exhilarated.

7. You can't miss a visit to the North End (an area in the north part of Boston that was and still is predominantly Italian). You will feel like you just stepped into Italy, and there are amazing Italian restaurants there as well.

8. Faneuil Hall is always a festive place to go. There are always street performers, musicians and plenty of outdoor cafes and shopping.

9. There are many great museums in Boston. Make sure to check out the Museum of Fine Arts, which always has great exhibits, the museum of Science, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum (one of my favorites) as well as the Mapparium, which is globe that you actually walk into. It is inside the Mary Baker Eddy Library.

10. Of course a trip to Boston wouldn't be complete without a visit to Fenway Park. They do offer tours of the park for those who are interested.
